Vertumnus: the Roman god of the changing seasons. He transformed himself again and again to win the hand of Pomona, the goddess of the orchard and the garden. They bring balance to the garden; wild and manicured, male and female, changing and familiar.
This myth inspires us in our every day work of creating well-balanced and beautiful landscapes. The goal of all our work is the satisfaction of the client and a harmonious landscape that will continue to enhance your home, neighborhood, and environment for years to come.
We typically take in some information via phone or e-mail before scheduling an appointment to meet you and evaluate your project. After an initial meeting we create a draft budget for your project and a provisional scope of work. If these are mutually agreed upon we begin the detailed design process, leading to the construction stage.
Along with client satisfaction and the beauty of our gardens, our impact on the environment is perhaps our highest concern. This is most obvious in our general use of Organic methods in the care of our gardens. We use Organic fertilizers and pest-management methods.
Less obvious, but equally important, is keeping the environment in mind when designing and building a garden. Some important considerations include using Organic materials in soil preparation, using low water–use plants and native plants where appropriate, and locating plants carefully so that they thrive without the application of chemicals. We also recycle nearly all of our waste and coordinate our projects to reduce our carbon footprint.
Bruce Bond, the principle and owner, is a West Coast native and has been a professional horticulturalist for over twenty years, fifteen of those in Seattle. He studied at the Edmonds Community College Ornamental Horticulture Program and has a background in the Classics from St. John’s College, Santa Fe. An abiding passion for the natural world and the love of the visual arts come together in his dedication to the garden.
We have a group of well-trained gardeners ands masons who execute our installation and maintenance projects. We believe in investment and training of our staff to insure low turnover and highly skilled crew members. Gardens are generally tended by the same people for years at a time, cultivating a relationship of trust and commitment.
